SALISBURY — The Salisbury VA Medical Center is holding its 8th annual “VA2K Walk and Roll” on Wednesday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The annual VA2K encourages healthy activity while supporting homeless veterans through donated items.

The event is free and open to everyone: employees, veterans and the public. Pre-registration is not required and individuals interested in participating should plan to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to starting times.

It will be held at Building 42, Main Street, with staggered starting times of 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m.

The Salisbury VA event is just one of many VA2Ks taking place May 16 and 17 at VA facilities across the country.

In conjunction with the event, donated items will be accepted for the homeless veterans program at the Salisbury VA. There is no requirement for a donation to participate.

This year, the VA2K committee is asking for donations of the following items:

  • New T-shirts, socks and underwear
  • Toiletries: soap/body wash, shampoo, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste

During the event, a health fair will be set up to provide information about services for veterans and employees through the VA and community partners.
