Letter: Universal health care is the answer

The writer is responding to an article in Friday’s Post, “David Cook talks about new ‘quadruple aim’ for health care.”

I certainly agree with the things David Cook said. Call it what you will, but universal health care, Medicare for all, is the only way to achieve those goals.

The middle men, health insurance, drug companies’ control of the medications, must be cut out so that health care is affordable and available to all people.

The United States is the only developed country that does not provide a form of universal health care for all people, yet the health care that is provided in this country is the most expensive without covering all citizens. Health care should be a right for all people.

The major problem is how to get lawmakers to pass any kind of legislation to this aim. Exorbitantly paid lobbyists for the health care and pharmaceutical companies control lawmakers, and those industries pay so much to those lawmakers to get them to do their will, not the will of the people who elect them.

Yes, I am saying there is no hope for a change in this area unless and until we elect a different set of lawmakers.

We must look at the voting records and read carefully between the lines and vote for only people who will support better health care for all people.

It is election time, and this is a good time to get started.
