Entertainment for this month’s April 12 meeting of the English Speaking Union are Sara Claire King and Eli Yacinthe, a young duo from Statesville who last year appeared in the symphony fundraiser ’Bury Home Companion and since have appeared on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Eli is a senior at Statesville High while Sara is a freshman at UNCC. With Eli on the guitar and Sara singing and playing the piano, they will entertain with music from the Bee Gees to Frank Sinatra to Billy Joel.

Since the age of 5, Sara has been singing and playing the piano. She was chosen last year by the Performing Arts of Iredell to attend the Fine Arts Summer Academy in Nashville. She studied and performed there, continuing a dream to become a singer/songwriter. As she continues her studies in music at UNCC she continues to perform and entertain across the Piedmont.

Eli has played the guitar since the age of 10. He has received multiple scholarships to attend music and guitar camps, including recently being chosen as the 2018 Tosco Music Youth Scholarship recipient, awarded by Tosco Music of Charlotte. Eli plays a wide variety of eclectic music and currently serves as rhythm guitarist of the Lake Norman Big Band.

ESU meetings are held at The Country Club of Salisbury, starting at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. You do not have to be a member to attend but reservations are required. Contact Gerry at 704-216-2660 by April 10.
