Area Sports Briefs: Action resumes Monday in local baseball tournaments

Action resumes today and tonight in the two local baseball tournaments.
It’s championship night in the F&M Bank Classic at Intimidators Stadium.
Carson (11-3) takes on West Forsyth (11-3) in the title game at 6:30 p.m.
Carson has won 10 in a row after a slow start.
Carson has won only one Easter tournament in school history. The Cougars beat Davie County to win the Cliff Peeler Classic in 2010.
In other games in Kannapolis today, Northwest Cabarrus (6-9) plays Mount Pleasant (8-6) for seventh place at 11 a.m.; Salisbury (11-4) takes on A.L. Brown (2-10) for fifth at 1:30 p.m., and South Rowan (5-8) plays Robinson (8-4) for third at 4 p.m.

In East Rowan’s Spring Break Tournament at Staton Field, East and West Rowan have reached today’s semifinals.
East (8-4) plays in the 1 p.m. game against Central Cabarrus (8-4). West Rowan (7-6) plays Cox Mill (10-2) at 7 p.m.
In the consolation games at Staton Field today, Mooresville (6-8) plays West Iredell (4-9) at 10 a.m. and West Stanly (10-3) tangles with South Iredell (3-9) at 4 p.m.
