Letter: National Cemetery Annex’s potential expansion is magnificent project

With reference to Mark Wineka’s article, “VA considers land donation to expand cemetery annex” (March 27): We hope all citizens and veterans will support this magnificent project for our community.

After almost six years of hard work on the part of our Rowan County YMCA, many veterans organizations and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, we are now in the final stages of this major project.

With the knowledge that our Salisbury National Cemetery is the only national cemetery in the state accepting veteran burials and the cemetery annex will near its maximum capacity during the next decade, this planned expansion will be extremely important in extending the life of the cemetery and providing burial sites for our military veterans who served our country.

Thank you for your continued support of this worthy project.
