Letter: We chant ‘never again,’ yet …

Published 7:12 pm Wednesday, March 21, 2018

As you know, another school shooting happened on Tuesday. I am an 18-year-old high school senior who is terrified to go to school every day. My dad asked me today if I think it would be wise for me to take a concealed carry class, before realizing that the age minimum for a concealed carry class is 21.

What kind of environment have we created with constant school shootings that a father must ask his daughter if she wants to become gun-certified as a way to stay safe in school? How dare Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr and Rep. Robert Pittenger (along with so many others) continue to take NRA money and continue to put my life and the lives of hundreds of millions of other children at risk? How much money is enough?

I’m ashamed of the state of our country. Congress must do something instead of sending thoughts and prayers. Enough is enough. Last week we were chanting “Never Again” but yet here we are.
