Probation officers find meth, other items during random search of home

SALISBURY — Probation officers discovered methamphetamine, a bong and other items during a random search of a Carolina Boulevard home Thursday evening.

Salisbury police charged Melanie Dawn Satterfield Johnson, 36, of the 400 block of Carolina Boulevard, with misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling for trafficking in controlled substances, misdemeanor simple possession a Schedule IV controlled substance, felony possession of meth, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was issued a $2,500 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.

Police officials said probation officers went to the home for a search and found 4 grams of meth; half a clonazepam pill, a prescription drug used to treat seizures and panic attacks; a bong; and a digital scale. The probation officers contacted Salisbury police.

Johnson is on special probation. She was convicted in 2017 in Stanly County and given two years of probation for a 2015 charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She has been convicted of multiple driving infractions, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
