Letter: Think of yourself as American, first
When we look at our world, our problems and our future through the glasses of Latino, black, white, etc., we sell ourselves short, as a society.
When politicians look at every single issue through the glasses of Democrat or Republican, we sell ourselves short. This is the only reason for both parties wanting majorities; most all votes are cast along party lines. This is neither objective nor advantageous to America as a whole.
Please, let us look at ourselves as Americans first, then the respective lesser categories next. Politicians, please look at the issues in the light of what is best for America. America needs all of us to make it great.
