Daniel Yuri Ussery of Concord achieved the rank of Eagle Scout recently at his Court of Honor ceremony at Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church.

Daniel is the son of Mike and Lori Ussery and brother of Julia of Concord. He is the grandson of Mrs. Maxine Tucker and the late Mr. Malcolm Tucker of Albemarle and Mr. and Mrs. Brant Ussery of Richfield.

The Eagle Scout rank is the highest attainable rank in Boy Scouting and requires a lengthy review process.  Only four percent of Boy Scouts attain this rank mostly because the requirements necessary to achieve Eagle Scout take years to fulfill.  To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project that he plans, organizes, leads and manages.  It must benefit a segment of the community.  For his project, Daniel built a fire ring and seating area for the Church of God Children’s Home in Concord.  Daniel is a Junior at Cox Mill High School in Concord, where he is active in HOSA – Health Occupations Students of America.  Daniel was the 90th member of Boy Scout Troop 38 to become an Eagle Scout in its 50 year history.  Troop 38 is in the Cabarrus District, North Carolina Central Council, chartered to Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church in Concord.
