Letter: For the record, about Trump’s deferrals

In response to “Presidential bravado” (letter in Wednesday’s Post): From National Archives research:
• June 1964: Trump turns 18, registers with Selective Service and receives the first of four 2-S college deferments.
• December 1965: Receives second college deferment.
• December 1966: Renews 2-S college deferment.
• 1967: No record.
• January 1968: Receives fourth 2-S college deferment.
• July 1968: Graduates college and is reclassified 1-A.
• September 1968: Goes through Armed Forces physical examination and is listed “DISQ” (disqualified).
• October 1968: Reclassified 1-Y (qualified in time of war or national emergency).
• February 1972: 1-Y classification was abolished, Trump reclassified 4-F (not qualified for military service). When entered into the military lottery draft, his number was 356 out of 365, based on his date of birth.
• Nov. 20, 1991: New York Daily News publishes an article about Trump exiting his limo and verbally confronting a bat-wielding mugger beating another person on Ninth Avenue. Mugger ran off.
So were all college students cowards? Were all who flunked the Armed Forces exam cowards? Is it cowardly to leave your safe vehicle and approach a mugger holding a bat?
