Mooresville man charged with statutory rape

MOORESVILLE — A Mooresville man has been arrested on 24 charges of sexual offenses with at least two children.

Robert Mark Moose, 54, of Moore Farm Lane, was arrested after the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the offenses on Dec. 30.

One child said she was sexually assaulted by Moose on multiple occasions between August and December.

The report was assigned to Detective Patrick Dixson of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.

During his investigation, a second victim was identified. She said she had been sexually assaulted by Moose on multiple occasions between November 2001 and February 2005.

Moose is charged with 12 counts of felony indecent liberties with a child, 10 counts of felony statutory rape of a child by an adult, and two counts of felony statutory rape/sexual offense with a child.

Moose was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was held on a $1.5 million secured bond.
