Final days of ‘Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge 1718’ 

SPENCER — Through Feb. 27 at the NC Transportation Museum: the traveling exhibit of weaponry, nautical tools and personal items recovered from the pirate’s wrecked flagship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge.

Coming Feb. 25: “How the West Was Won: Trains and the Transformation of Western North Carolina” tells the story of the coming of the railroads after the Civil War.

‘Hear America Sing’

4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25: In Catawba’s Omwake-Dearborn Chapel the Catawba Singers, PopAC, and Chamber Choir present “Hear America Sing” featuring well-known works by classical American composers plus music from the gospel and popular genres. The combined 80-voice ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, and will be accompanied by Jacob Hahn and Susan Trivette. The hour long concert is free and open to the public.

‘Anything Goes’ group exhibit at Rail Walk

Feb. 21-April 28; Resident artists of Rail Walk Studios were invited to submit work with no prescribed theme or medium yielding an impressive and varied exhibition.

The group is inviting visitors to participate in community art by painting on canvas set up in the gallery with acrylic paint and brushes provided.
