Local Bridge by Myrnie McLaughlin

Active Bridge season

Feb. 12 was the Silver Arts Duplicate Bridge completion. This game marks the beginning of the Rowan -Salisbury Senior Games season. These competitions include silver arts and athletic competitions that are state wide with the season ending with final competitions in Raleigh in the fall. This is a great way for our Seniors 50 years and up to stay alert and active.

Medal winners in this activity were : Gold N/S Sue Hayworth and Ebbie Whisenent with David Midgely and Marcia Bremser; Silver- Mack Brown and Marvin Jones; Bronze- Anita Graham and Fred Bachl with Rosemary Sokolowski and Joy Hamilton: E/W Gold- Margaret and Chuck Rimer; Silver- Helen Barber and Connie Hurlocker; Bronze -Nancy Schoch and Karen Bowyer. On Friday, Feb. 9 our Evergreen game was lively. Winning: N/S 1st Marvin Jones and Mack Brown, 2nd Fern Albracht and Shirley Jeffers, and tied for 3rd /4th Toni Iossi and Beth Shafer with Marie Pugh and Ruth Bowles; E/W 1st Dick Brisbin and Wayne Pegram, 2nd Lawana Ford and Patsy Reynolds, 3rd Judy Gealy and Carol Bachl.

Our Feb. 13 Women’s Club game was the first of the two STaC games to be played during the week of Feb. 12-16. Winning this special game that allowed players to win Silver Master Points were: N/S 1st Don Webster and Roy Barrow, 2nd Judy Gealy and Toni Iossi, 3rd Pat Macon and Becky Creekmore, 4th Fern Albracht and Shirley Jeffers, 1st strat C Nancy Brandt and Tom Johnson: E/W 1st Judy Hurder and Myrnie McLaughlin, 2nd Patty and Robbo Williams, 3rd Georgia Sorensen and John McLaughlin, 4th Margaret and Chuck Rimer and 2nd strat C Billie and John Nordan.
