Letter: A run-in with the birds

While driving down Woodleaf Road this past weekend, I noticed a field that looked as if it was being readied for the new planting season. Suddenly, there appeared to be something akin to white paper fluttering on the ground.

I slowed down and was astonished to see hundreds of white sea gulls. I was accustomed to seeing a few of them in parking lots for fast-food restaurants but had never seen this many in one spot. The owner of the field must have stirred up something mighty tasty.

We may have sea gulls who have never seen the sea. Perhaps we should re-name them “Rowan gulls.”
