EAST SPENCER — The Missionary Ministry of Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate 2018 by hosting a Praise Hour today beginning at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Grubbs to speak at Trading Ford

New study at John Calvin Presbyterian

Church Study of Christian Traditions: Dr. John Wilkerson will lead a 13-week study course in “Discovering What Makes for a Balanced Christian Life” in the adult Sunday school class, starting Sunday from 10-10:45 a.m.

The course is based on the work of Dr. Richard Foster in his classic book, Streams of Living Water, that traces the following Christian traditions back to Jesus: Contemplative, Holiness, Charismatic, Social Justice, Evangelical, and Incarnational. Learn what is meant by each tradition according to the New Testament, and how acquiring at least two practices from each can lead to a more balanced Christian life. The class will be in the old fellowship hall at John Calvin Presbyterian on Brenner Ave.

Communion service at Mt Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE — The 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday at Mt. Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St., will include theSacrament of Communion. Special music will be provided by Janie Rollins, guest organist. Council installation at Immanuel Lutheran 

ROCKWELL — Immanuel Lutheran, 2070 Emanuel Church Road, will install new Church Council members during the Sunday 11 a.m. worship service. Those who will be installed to serve a three year term include: Randy Barringer, Jim Goodman, Norman Shue and Rick Shulenburger. Bonnie Cress, Carol Hatley, Ronnie Miller and Alan Mills will also be honored and recognized as “retiring” members from the Council. Christy Trexler will provide special music, and the sacrament of Holy Communion will be administered. Irene Beaver Circle members will collect BINGO prizes for Tuesday game night with the residents at the Meadows of Rockwell. The congregation is asked to donate gloves, hats, scarves, coats and children’s bookbags for the Organ Community Outreach Center.

Community Health and Wellness Fair

The Pilgrimaires’ annual gospel concert 

WOODLEAF — The Pilgrimaires of Salisbury will be celebrating their Annual New Year Gospel Extravaganza on Sunday at Freedom United Church of God, 1555 Hart Road.

Special guest groups are J Soul and God’s Creation of the Carolinas, Eternity of Morganton, The New Voices of Faith of Mocksville, and The Messengers of Cleveland. The free concert will go from 4 p.m. until.

Roland Carter will be the emcee. Food will be sold and vendors will be there. Host pastor is Bishop Willie Joe Gray.

Pastoral installation at New Bethel Baptist

MOCKSVILLE — New Bethel Baptist Church, 3727 US 601 Hwy South, announces the installation of Rev. John R. Bankhead Jr. as pastor on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Rev. Sydney Moore Jr., associate minister at Jerusalem Baptist Church of East Spencer, and who served together with Pastor Bankhead, will speak.

The afternoon service will be led by Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken, pastor of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and former moderator of the Rowan Baptist Association. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Neel Road Baptist

The 11 a.m. service on Jan. 14 will include the Eagle Scout Award presentation for Eric Houck for erecting and equipping the flag pole for the church campus.

The Neel Road Baptist Church goal of $2500 for the Lottie Moon offering for international missions was met and surpassed.
