Salisbury Fire Department promotes Capt. Shawn McBride to battalion chief
SALISBURY — Salisbury Fire Department Capt. Shawn McBride has been promoted to battalion chief, Fire Chief Bob Parnell said Thursday.
McBride began with the Fire Department in 2006 as a firefighter. During his career, he has been a fire engineer and lieutenant.
He began his new role Jan. 1 assigned as the commander of C Shift.
McBride is from Sumter, South Carolina, and is a graduate of Sumter High School. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business from Catawba College, where he was a member of the football team and a standout linebacker.
He holds state certifications as a Fire Officer 3 and Fire and Rescue Instructor 2. In 2017, he completed the N.C. Chief Officers Execute Development Program.
McBride is also chief of the East Spencer Fire Department.
McBride lives in Salisbury with his wife, Allison, and children, Lily, Tristen, Brooklyn, Parker and Jordan.
