Fire officials: Evergreen Drive house fire still undetermined
SALISBURY — The cause of a Tuesday night fire that destroyed a home on Evergreen Drive remains undetermined, fire officials said Thursday.
“The fire started in the attic,” said Fire Division Chief Deborah Horne, “but the cause is undetermined.”
The husband and wife who live at the home were not there when the fire began. A neighbor called to report the fire.
The husband is in the hospital, and his wife is in an assisted living facility. The couple’s grandson, who at one time lived there, also was not at the home at the time of the fire, Horne said.
She said different family members would look in on the house from time to time.
The house is at 180 Evergreen Drive, just off East Ridge Road in the Spencer Forest neighborhood.
The fire began sometime after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
