Comfort Keepers grants ‘A Senior’s Wish’

For the second year in a row, Comfort Keepers granted a special wish for a Rowan County senior that would not have been possible without the annual “A Senior’s Wish” campaign.
The agency had the assistance of Robert Leonard of the North Carolina Baptist Association of Ministries in providing laborers and volunteers. Tim Morley of Cannon Pharmacy gave a donation to the cause.
Barbara Hensley of Kannapolis has lived in her mobile home on family property for years. Her Comfort Keeper’s caregiver, Rebecca Tyson, nominated her for A Senior’s Wish.
The home was full of memories, but numerous repairs had been left undone because of her health problems. Tyson was concerned that the floors were rotting and a wheelchair ramp was in need of repairs.
Leonard visited the home and assessed the flooring problem. Old carpet had to be removed.
A grab bar was attached in the shower area to ensure safety in the bathroom. Other minor repairs were made to the home.
New low-pile carpet was installed by Miller Carpeting of Kannapolis.
In its annual campaign, Comfort Keepers has granted wishes for deserving seniors in the seven counties the agency serves.
Seniors do not have to be clients to have a wish granted.
