Today: Live Nativity at Luther’s Lutheran 

RICHFIELD — Luther’s Lutheran Church, at the corner of Stokes Ferry and Richfield Roads, will present a live nativity this evening from 6-8 p.m.

There will also be a Christmas Eve service on Sunday at 7 p.m. that will include a play.

Today: Lights of Love Christmas Celebration

Christmas Eve services

Holy Cross Lutheran

MOCKSVILLE — The 9 a.m. Christmas Eve service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1913 US Highway 601 South, will be lead by GeoRene Jones, deacon-candidate of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Fellowship will follow.

The 7 p.m. service of Holy Communion will be lead by Rev. Geoffrey Hoy, retired pastor of NC Lutheran Synod. Music for both services will be lead by the Holy Cross Choir and Charles Fulton, church musician.

At the Dec. 17 congregational meeting, new members were elected to three-year terms on the Church Council: Becky Brown, Russ Restivo and Jamie Rucker.

Milford Hills UMC

Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd., will celebrate Christmas Eve with a combined worship service at 10 a.m., Sunday school at 9 a.m., and a Candlelight Communion Service at 7 p.m. Rev. Carol Williams-Gilbert will lead both services.

North Kannapolis Baptist 

KANNAPOLIS — A Christmas Eve Service of Candle-lighting will be held at North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., at 10 p.m. Call 704-933-2125 for additional information.

Word of Life program

The Drama, Music, and Children Ministries of Word of Life Family Worship Center present the annual Christmas program, “A Joyful Christmas,” on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Ebenezer Lutheran

CHINA GROVE — The Christmas Cantata “Tapestry of Light: A Celtic Christmas Celebration,” will be presented by the Ebenezer Choir on Sunday. There will be just the one service that day at 10:30 a.m., with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

The annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service is that evening at 7 p.m.

Organ Lutheran Church

On Sunday at Organ Lutheran Church, 1515 Organ Church Road, at 10:30 a.m. is the Worship Service Hymn Sing and Holy Communion

At 7 p.m. is the Candlelight Worship Service and Holy Communion and at 10:30 p.m. is Candlelight Worship and Holy Communion in the Old Historic Church, weather permitting. It will be held in the new church if the weather is bad.

Two services at Bethel Lutheran 

Bethel Lutheran Church, 355 E Ridge Road, will celebrate Christmas Eve with two services. At 10:30 a.m. the Service of the Word for the liturgy will celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent.  The Adult Chime Choir and the Adult Choir will provide special music.

At 10:10 p.m., the Festival Christmas Communion will be preceded with Christmas prelude music by organist Cathy Williams. The service will conclude with the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight.  Host pastor is Darrell Norris.

Faith Lutheran

FAITH — Faith Lutheran Church, 205 S. Main St., on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. holds its regular worship; and at 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. will be the Christmas Eve Worship with Candlelight and Communion. For more information, call 704-279-2500.

Gloria Dei 

The youth group of Gloria Dei, 1908 Statesville Blvd., will present a Christmas drama, “God With Us,” during Sunday’s 11 a.m. service.

A Christmas Eve candlelight communion service will take place that evening at 7.

First UCC 

On Sunday is the 11 a.m. worship service and at 7 p.m. is the Candlelight Christmas Eve Service followed by a reception, at First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St.

Immanuel Lutheran

ROCKWELL — Immanuel Lutheran will hold its regular 11 a.m. worship service on Christmas Eve Day.  Callie Trexler, an Erwin Middle School eighth grader, will be a featured soloist as she will sing “Mary, Did You Know.” There will be no evening Christmas Eve Service.

Two services at St. John’s

On Sunday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church’s main sanctuary is a Christmas service created with families and children in mind, with a dramatic retelling of the Christmas story, music from the contemporary worship team, choir and handbells.

The Christmas Eve candlelight service is at 7 p.m. and includes the story of Christmas as presented by brass, choirs, handbells, festival liturgy and candlelight. Preludes will begin at 6:30 p.m.

First Calvary Baptist

First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St., will host an afternoon of fellowship and worship by candlelight on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall, sharing sweet and savory pies, followed by a service of worship through the arts.

The program is “Giving Gifts of Honor” and others are invited to share gifts of song, instrument playing, dance, poetry, spoken word or skit acting. The Potter’s House 

The Potter’s House Outreach Ministries, 119 A&B Clancy St., present a Christmas Concert and Candle Lighting Service on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Christmas music will be ministered by Brother Hoyle and Sister Zenna Brown, Minister Rose Maxwell Green, Brother Cedric Hawkins, Evangelist Annie Shaw, and Sister Debra Watts and the Potters’ House Children and Youth Choir conducted by Brenda Pittman.

Host pastors are Reginald Long and Gena Long.

First Reformed 

LANDIS — Christmas Eve services   at First Reformed Church of Landis, 210 N. Central Ave., are Sunday at 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.  and will feature the “Voices of Joy” Choir, the Christmas story in scripture and song, a special message and a Candlelight Celebration.  Both services will feature special music beforehand.  

There will be no morning services. Host pastor is David Franks.

Joint service features ‘The Story’ 

SPENCER — The Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion service is Sunday at 5 p.m. at Central United Methodist, 200 4th St. It is a joint service between Central and The Arbor United Methodist Church. The pastor of The Arbor is Craig Sefa and the pastor of Central is McKenzie Sefa.

St. Stephen’s Lutheran

GOLD HILL — St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 4401 St. Stephen’s Church Road, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service with Holy Communion on Sunday at 5 p.m. The children’s Christmas program will follow the worship service. Host pastor is Ruth Ann Sipe.

St Luke’s Lutheran

MT ULLA — At St Luke’s Lutheran Church, 11020 NC Hwy 801, the service is on Sunday at 5 p.m. with the musical prelude beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be a special Christmas message, candlelight song and Holy Communion. ROCKWELL — Christmas Eve at Ursinus United Church of Christ features music of Christmas directed by Dr. Phillip Burgess, a special message from Rev. Catherine Costello and sacred sharing of prayers and Communion, beginning at 7 p.m.

New London UMC

NEW LONDON — On Sunday, New London United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main St., will have a Christmas Eve service beginning at 7 p.m. which will include the reading of scriptures and conclude with the lighting of candles. Prior to the service there will be special music by Daniel Dickens and friends.

 

Monday Dec 25 Christmas Day Service

LANDIS — Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church, 1425 Mt. Moriah Church Road, will have Christmas Day service on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. Brother Terry L. Jackson Jr. will deliver a Christmas meditation. Rev. Clarence J. Shuford Jr. is host pastor.
