Editorial: Betrayed trust

Protecting and nurturing children should be one of our society’s top priorities, but too often people betray children’s trust. After people searched for days for a 3-year-old girl missing in the Jacksonville area, her mother’s live-in boyfriend has been charged in connection with the child’s death. Child welfare advocates cannot be surprised.

Whether it’s by shooting, beating, strangulation or neglect, killing a child has to be one of the lowest crimes a person can commit.
