Blotter: $500 worth of merchandise stolen from Walmart

SALISBURY — Kenricka Gist, 18, was charged with trying to steal about $223 worth of jewelry and about $361 worth of toys from Walmart on South Arlington Street, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Gist, who is from Charlotte, went to the Walmart last on Nov. 21 and tried to steal a total of $585.11 in merchandise, a police report said.

All of the items were recovered.

A Walmart security guard called police, who arrested Gist.

She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.

In other Police Department reports:

• Deshunta Hyde, 24, was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, misdemeanor injury to personal property and misdemeanor vandalism after he went to his girlfriend’s house to try to get his car back.

• Two suspects stole beer from the Rushco store at 601 Jake Alexander Blvd. on Friday.
