Free Thanksgiving meals available for the needy Salisbury area

Some churches and organizations will provide a free Thanksgiving meal for those in need in Rowan County.

• True Holiness Church of God, 309 Rosemont Ave., Kannapolis. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Takeout available. 704-938-3972;  Pastor Renwick Fisher, 980-621-4794; Elizabeth Gillispie, 704- 932-3053.

• Sandy Ridge AME  Zion Church, 1425 Mount Moriah Church Road, China Grove. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

For anyone in need of a home-cooked meal.Plates are available for homebound parishioners and neighbors. Donations are appreciated but not required. Call to donate canned goods or nonperishable items or desserts; Mary Sheely, 704-918-6234.

• Providence Baptist Church, 620 Andrews St. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

The church will deliver meals to the disabled; call the Rev. Jason Brown at 704-224-8209 or the Rev. Sy Ponds at 704-637-6629. Leave a message with your name, phone number, address, and the number of meals you need.

• Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., East Spencer. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. For those not able to come to the church, dinners can be delivered by calling 704-267-8648.

Elder Edith Downs is the coordinator; the pastor is Bishop W. Ronald Hash.

• Salvation Army of Rowan County, 620 Bringle Ferry Road. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The meal is co-hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Salisbury, whose members will prepare the turkeys.
