SALISBURY — Two Rockwell brothers have been charged with stealing a handgun from a Salisbury home.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Chandler Austin King, 16, and his brother, Matthew Tyler King, 17, both of the 100 block of Josie Street, with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny.
According to a report, on Nov. 11, Donald Burleyson discovered that his Fisher Road home ad been broken into, but he didn’t immediately know that anything was taken. Burleyson had been out of town and returned to find a back window had been broken.
He later determined his High Point Arms 9 mm handgun was missing.
Burleyson told deputies he had been contacted by a woman who said she found some messages that her son, Chandler King, had sent about stealing a gun from a Salisbury home. Burleyson said a young woman who lived with his family for several months brought King to the house two weeks prior to the theft.
Both teenagers were arrested Thursday.
Matthew King has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
Chandler King remains in the Rowan County jail under a $3,000 secured bond.
