A.T.C. begins services in new building 

Services at At The Cross Ministries (A.T.C.) began on Nov. 9 with Thursday Night Power Bible Study.

Rehearsal for Power In Praise (PIPs) Youth Choir for ages 6-15 is today at noon.

The Sunday worship service is at 10 a.m.

South China Grove to honor veterans

CHINA GROVE — South China Grove United Methodist Church, 230 Rose Ave., will honor veterans and active military service members including National Guard and Reserves at the regular 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Veterans and others are encouraged but not required to wear their uniforms.

Honor Guard at New Covenant Baptist 

KANNAPOLIS — The Honor Guard from VFW Post 10346, Yadkinville, will be performing a POW-MIA program on Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service at New Covenant Baptist Church, 1400 Stone Ave.

EAST SPENCER — Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, 940 S Long St., will celebrate its church anniversary on Sunday at the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. services.

The morning speaker is Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr. and the afternoon speaker will be Rev. Dairl Scott Jr.

Rev. Dr. Harrison serves as the Presiding Elder of the Salisbury District. Rev. Dairl Scott Jr. is the pastor of Center Grove AME Zion Church, Tobaccoville.

Gloria Dei observes Veteran’s Day

In observance of WELCA Sunday, Gloria Dei’s ladies will assist Rev. John Tucker Sunday during the 11 a.m. special worship service in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Immediately following the service, WELCA will conduct their November meeting in the fellowship hall. Colleen Hoffner will present the program. The church is located at 1908 Statesville Blvd.

Trustee Day at Jerusalem Baptist

Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1570 N. Long St. Ext., will celebrate Deacon, Deaconess and Trustee Day on Sunday during the 11 a.m. service. Rev. Barbara J. Barbour will be the speaker.

Rev. Barbour is a native of Salisbury, having recently moved back to the area after her retirement from White Cross AME Zion Church in Efland. She holds a BA degree from West Virginia University and a master of arts in Theological Studies from Houston Graduate School.

All officers at Jerusalem are asked to wear the proper attire representing their respective auxiliaries. Special music will be provided by the combined JBC choirs. Dr. David Bracken is host pastor.

Outreach Christian Ministries holds birthday service 

Outreach Christian Ministries Intl., 722 W. Horah St., will host a birthday celebration service for First Lady Tramika Taylor on Sunday with Evangelist Tayon Dancy from Mt. Zion Church in Cary as the speaker. The service will start at 11 a.m.

Whosoever Will Let Them Come Ministries

SPENCER — Whosoever Will Let Them Come Ministries (WWLTC), 318 8th St., will host an appreciation service for Bishop Chris F. Brown and Pastor Patricia A. Brown, marking their 10th year in the ministry.

Fairview Heights 95th anniversary celebration

Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, will celebrate its 95th anniversary on Sunday.

The morning speaker will be Rev. Paul Jones, pastor emeritus of New Zion Baptist Church of Dunns Mountain.

The afternoon program will include recognition of church pioneers and church history with reflections of “Days Gone By.” Dinner will be served after the morning service.

Thankoffering service features women of the Bible

ROCKWELL — Faithful women from the Old and New Testaments will visit Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2070 Emanuel Church Road, during the Lutheran Women’s Thankoffering at the 11 a.m. service. Reflective vignettes will portray faithful women as individuals, not just characters in ancient events.

During the service, a special Thankoffering will be collected for Rowan Helping Ministries. This special Sunday is coordinated by the Boger/Brown/Miller Circle (Brenda Rummage, president). The vignettes were written by Vickie Goodman. Christy Trexler will perform special music, and sixth grader Caroline York will play an organ duet with Dr. Rob Thankoffering Service participants include: Dian Deal, Maria Freeman, Linda Goodman, Vickie Goodman, Kay Meilinger, Susie Peeler, Patricia Pine, Brenda Rummage, Cindy Safrit, Kim Sheeks, Geraldine Shue, Betty Wilhelm and Pam York. KANNAPOLIS — The Ushers celebrate their 44th anniversary at United Baptist Church, 3001 Clermont Ave., on Sunday at 3 p.m. Evangelist Cathye Marlin, First Lady of Fairview Heights Baptist Church, will be the preacher of the hour. Her husband and pastor is Rev. Clarence Marlin of Fairview Heights.

F.A.C.T. Blessing of the Children at Mt. Calvary

The F.A.C.T. (Families and Communities Together) monthly “Blessing of the Children Worship Service” will be hosted by Mt. Calvary Holy Church, 1400 Standish St., on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the theme of “Giving Thanks with a Grateful Heart!”

The object lesson will be presented by Rev. Johnny Sellers, student from Hood Theological Seminary. Meditation prayer will given by Rev. Eric Susong, newly appointed pastor of Mt. Calvary Holy Church. The children and youth of Mt. Calvary will preside and present talent, which includes:

Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church’s children and youth praise singing with sign language; and

M.C. Angels of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church with a liturgical praise dance.

Children and youth who made the All A and A & B Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance and Good Citizenship Awards during this grading period will be recognized.

Everyone is asked to bring canned goods for Rowan Helping Ministries.

Founders Day at Hall’s Temple

The annual Founders Day observance at Hall’s Temple Holiness Church, 1129 N. Long St., held each second Sunday in November, will be Sunday at 4 p.m., with guest speaker Pastor Carrie Belton.

The Colours Band will be returning on Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. to provide gospel music during a special Fun & Fellowship time.

During the month of November donations of non-perishable foods and funds for the purchase of hams will be accepted.

The first delivery was made on Nov. 3 and weekly deliveries will be made throughout the month.

Parents Night Out at Cleveland First Baptist

CLEVELAND — Friday Nov. 17 is Parents’ Night Out. Infants and children through 5th grade are welcome from 6-10 p.m.

There will be a bouncy house/ slide, hayride, pizza, games and crafts. Drop off your kids and enjoy a night out.

Free coat giveaway at The Refuge 

The Refuge Church of God In Christ, 1133 Short St., will be hosting the Thanksgiving Coat Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. The theme is “Blessed to be a Blessing.” The church will give to families in need the coats that have been collected.

Coats of all sizes from toddlers to adults XL, both male and female, will be available for free.

Individuals must be present to receive. Refreshments will be served.
