North Carolina Research Campus to be featured at Nov. PIP breakfast

SALISBURY — Nutrition researcher Steven Zeisel will speak at the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce’s Power in Partnership breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at Trinity Oaks, 728 Klumac Road.

The breakfast will be sponsored by F&M Bank.

Zeisel has done research on food science and nutrition and its commercial application for the regional business community. He works at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.

He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is a Kenan Distinguished University Professor in nutrition and pediatrics, a former chairman of the department of nutrition, director of the Nutrition Research Institute and director of the UNC Nutrition Obesity Research Center.

The dates for the remaining 2017-18 PIP series are Dec. 14, which will have an inspirational speaker; Jan. 18, which will focus on economic outlook; Feb. 15, which will have an arts speaker; March 15, which will focus on agribusiness; April 19, which will focus on health care; and May 17, which will be the Leadership Rowan graduation.

Individual reservations can still be made without a Power Card. The deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 14.

The cost is $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers. The price includes breakfast and the program.
