Man shot and killed in Taco Bell parking lot on East Innes Street

SALISBURY — A man was killed in a shooting outside the Taco Bell restaurant at 602 E. Innes St. on Friday night, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Police were called to the restaurant at 8:44 p.m. after gunshots were reported, according to a police statement.

When officers arrived, they found that a shooting had taken place in the parking lot. Witnesses said a man had run from the scene into FT Tobacco Co. at 618 E. Innes St. and collapsed.

The 30-year-old man was transported to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound, police said. The name of the victim was not released pending notification of next-of-kin.

Salisbury police investigators and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating.
