Salisbury Police seize gray death heroin, cocaine, firearms from North Shaver Street home

SALISBURY — Large amounts of cocaine and heroin were found in the search of a Shaver Street home, according to Salisbury police.

The Salisbury Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and Special Response Team executed a search warrant at 714 N. Shaver St. in connection with a narcotics investigation.

Officers found 387 grams of cocaine with a street value of $25,000; 10 grams of “gray death” heroin with a street value of $2,000; 46 grams of marijuana with a street value of $200; and three handguns, one of which was reported stolen.

The residents of the home, Christopher Lee Erwin, 33, and Domonick Laville Wheeler, 28, were both charged with trafficking in heroin; trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling drugs; and continuing criminal enterprise.

In addition, Erwin was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Both Erwin and Wheeler were taken before a Rowan County magistrate. Erwin was issued a $ 1.5 million bond, and Wheeler was issued a $ 750,000 secured bond.

Both Erwin and Wheeler are expected for their first court appearances on Friday.

Erwin has a number of previous convictions including felony habitual felon, felony possession with intent to sell a Schedule II substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, possession of a firearm by a felon, misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, and a number of traffic infractions and other misdemeanor convictions.
