EAST SPENCER — If re-elected, Phronice Johnson will have served the town of East Spencer for a total of 20 years and will be in her fifth term.

Johnson, 65, said she initially didn’t want to seek another term, but was convinced by residents to continue on the board. She also wants to see ongoing projects finished including the renovation to Royal Giants Park and the water/sewer project.

Johnson is a graduate of North Rowan High and has a business degree from Forsyth Technical College. She is retired from Winston-Salem State University where she was an accountant technician.

She is treasurer for the Park Avenue Redevelopment Corporation, a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she is a Sunday School teacher and a treasurer of the John G. Gaston Scholarship committee. Johnson also serves as treasurer for her church’s missionary department and is a finance officer at the church.

She has two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren.

“If the citizens vote me in then I will be and if they don’t then I will be out,” she said.

The following are also running for town board — Jamilla Kennedy, Teon Robinson, Barbara Mallett, James Cowan, Tony Hillian, Dwayne Holmes, Tammy Corpening, and Otis Gibson.
