KAA-MaCC fourth anniversary and induction ceremony

KANNAPOLIS — The Kannapolis African-American Museum and Cultural Center will celebrate its fourth anniversary on Saturday Oct. 7, celebrating the ongoing theme of “Continuing The Quest For History Untold.”

KAA-MaCC’s anniversary celebration will highlight inductees into the Hall of Fame for three categories: Legacy Hall of Fame, Celebrity Hall of Fame, and Lifetime Achievement.

The inductees include: Legacy Hall of Fame – Dr. Levi A. Gibson (deceased), first African-American medical doctor in the Centerview community of Kannapolis;

Celebrity Hall of Fame – Kristina L. Roberts, author (aka “ZANE”) and publisher of Strebor Books; and Lifetime Achievements;

Clarence E. Caldwell, former band leader and musician of over 70 years;

Rosella E. Caldwell, retired educator, missionary and community leader;

and Walter L. Richardson Sr. (deceased), the first nightclub owner with live entertainment in the Bethel community in Kannapolis.

Larry White Sr., founder and CEO of VIP eVENTS Concierge of Annapolis, Md., will serve as the master of ceremony.

Beginning at 5-6 p.m., the venue for the VIP reception is the Kannapolis Train Station, located at 201 S. Main St. From 6:30-9 p.m., the silent auction, dinner/program and induction ceremony will be held in The Laureate Center ballroom, located at 401 Laureate Way.

KAA-MaCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. According to founder and board chairman Dr. Ruby L. Anthony-White, a 1967 G. W. Carver High School graduate, “KAA-MaCC’s main goal is to obtain a building/site for a museum and cultural center. The museum will focus on African American history in Kannapolis and surrounding communities in Cabarrus and southern Rowan. The cultural center will provide programs to educate the public, youth and adults about African American culture as well as other cultures.”

Donations of $100 per person include a VIP reception with honorees, silent auction, dinner and induction ceremony. Donations of $45 includes the silent auction, dinner and induction ceremony.
