Moonshine & Thunder – The Junior Johnson Story
WILKESBORO — Bleu Moon Productions presents “Moonshine & Thunder – The Junior Johnson Story,” beginning tonight, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m., for three consecutive weekends. Get tickets at www.bleumoonproductions.com or at the gate on the night of each performance.

A North Carolina story of moonshine and NASCAR, this multi media outdoor drama uses both film and live actors to tell the story.
The play takes attendees through the beginnings of The North Wilkesboro Speedway — from cow pasture to race track — and Junior Johnson’s evolution from outrunning the law to outrunning everything on that track. The production ends with Johnson’s first big win in Daytona. The show offers vintage automobiles, footage from the North Wilkesboro Speedway and Darlington, and tells personal stories from Junior Johnson himself. The event is outdoors at the Forest’s Edge Amphitheatre off Hwy 421 North in Historic Fort Hamby Park, 1534 South Recreation Road in Wilkesboro.

5th Annual Silver Buckle Charity Ball

The Silver Buckle Charity Ball benefits the therapeutic horsemanship programs for people with special needs and disabilities. Annual RPL Millstream Family Storytelling Concert
MT. ULLA — Every September, Rowan Public Library celebrates the power of storytelling with a festival and a family storytelling concert. This year’s festivities will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Gale Buck of Raleigh will demonstrate his storytelling skill at the Millstream Family Storytelling Concert at 7 p.m. in the Stanback Auditorium at RPL Headquarters, 201 W. Fisher St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Buck is a writer, storyteller, musician, and professional Santa Claus. He is the winner of the 2014 Bold-Faced Liars’ Showdown at the Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast and the 2015 South Carolina Liars’ Championship.
