KHA hosts An Evening with Charles A. Cannon

KANNAPOLIS — Kannapolis History Associates presents Charles A Cannon, president of Cannon Mills, as guest speaker for the September meeting. Mr. Cannon will share parts of his personal story about his beginnings in the textile world. Bring a favorite story, memory or photo to share after the program. This will serve as a prelude to the film “Charles A Cannon: A Mind for Business. A Heart for People” that will premier in October.

The September meeting is Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. A.L. Brown High School, 415 E. First St. To learn more, all the history room at 704-932-7518.

 

VA Medical Center Fall Festival

The W.G “Bill” Hefner Salisbury VA Medical Center’s Employee’s Association will be hosting its Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 20,  from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.  in Building 6 in the gym. Contact Kelly.vanager@va.gov at 704-638-3410 for more information.  This event is open to the public.

 

Habitat’s 17th home in Davie County

MOCKSVILLE — Habitat for Humanity’s Davie County affiliate is working on its 17th home, this one located in downtown Mocksville. Recently the siding, porches, and dry wall were completed. Dedication of this new home is planned for late fall. Persons wanting to become a Davie Countuy Habitat home-owner may complete an application available at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 124 Wilksboro St. or call the Davie County Habitat office at 336-751-7515.
