Local educators attend NCCAT

Charlena M. Perrell of Woodleaf Elementary School recently attended a program held at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, a recognized national leader in professional development programming for teachers in the state.

The center provides teachers with knowledge, skills, teaching methods, best practices and information to take back to their classrooms. It conducts a variety of professional development programs for pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers.

Student to attend N.C. School of Science and Math

Tamia Sherece Brown, daughter of Edward and Tameka Brown, was accepted to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham.

Tamia is a former student at North Rowan High School, where she excelled academically. She was also president of the DECA club, a member of the varsity cheerleading team, a member of the women’s track team and a Crosby Scholar.

Tamia began classes Aug. 15.
