Hairston Funeral Home announces new licensee director
Hairston Funeral Home, Inc., has announced an addition to its managerial staff. Juanita Miller will serve as licensee and funeral director.
Miller is a resident of Rockwell. She started her funeral service career in 1980 as a secretary at one of the oldest funeral homes in Winston-Salem.
She received her credentials in funeral service directing from Fayetteville Technical Community College. She also holds an AAS degree in human resource management.
She is an ordained elder, as is her husband, Bishop Donnell Miller of New Calvary Ministries. They have seven children and nine grandchildren.
She has been a licensed funeral director in the state of North Carolina since 1994.
She has worked in many capacities of funeral service including funeral director, licensed cemeterian, life insurance broker, and a workshop and seminar presenter on the necessity of pre-need planning.
In 1997, she started her own pre-need consultant firm — Miller’s Exceptional Services and Merchandise. It was the first of its kind in North Carolina.
Miller’s philosophy in the business of funeral service is that “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Miller said that she is available around the clock to serve all cultures during the most vulnerable times in families’ lives. She may be reached at 704-638-6464 or 704-706-5478.
Mountain Vista Health Park begins construction on short stay rehabilitation unit
Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton started construction Tuesday to add a new 7,500-square-foot transitional rehabilitation facility. This project is designed to expand Mountain Vista Health Park’s current short stay rehabilitation footprint by creating 12 additional private rooms and greatly expanding Mountain Vista Health Park’s therapy center.
Slated to open in the spring of 2018, the state-of-the-art facility with a private entrance will expand Mountain Vista Health Park’s existing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary rehabilitation program that is already being used by short stay surgery patients.
The transitional rehabilitation program — trademarked as “Home in Just 10 Days” — takes advantage of private rooms and specializes in short stay recoveries after surgery or other illnesses.
Mountain Vista’s Transitional Rehabilitation program maintains a high staff-to-patient ratio. A professional staff of physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists are able to provide highly personalized care.
“The new addition is designed to offer more modern concepts for adults needing short stay rehabilitation following an orthopedic or other surgery before returning back home,” said administrator Priscilla Vint.
When completed, the center will mark the completion of a two-year plan for Mountain Vista Health Park to expand its private-room-with-full-bath capacity to serve the rapidly growing number of individuals seeking short stay rehabilitation before returning home.
“We are grateful for the initial support of former board chair Mal Martin and our other board members,” Vint said. “We believe this project complements Mountain Vista Health Park’s recognition as a five‐star rated facility by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a recognition CMS bestows to the top 10 percent of skilled nursing facilities in each state. This rating underscores our commitment to provide high-quality care and service for our residents. We believe that compassionate care goes beyond the design of a pretty space. That’s why Mountain Vista Health Park embraces a person-centered approach.”
Mountain Vista Health Park’s current board chair, Scott Morris, said, “The new addition to Mountain Vista’s 19-acre campus could not come at a better time. Within the past several years we have seen an ever-increasing need for more private rooms with full baths and a larger therapy center. We are currently operating at maximum capacity in our skilled nursing center and maintain a robust wait list for available services.”
The addition was designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and is being built by David E. Looper & Company.
An open house celebration for the Transitional Rehabilitation Center at Mountain Vista Health Park will be scheduled following completion.
