Area Sports Briefs: West tops North jayvees

West Rowan won against North Rowan, 20-7, in jayvee football on Thursday.
Dylan Sigmon rushed 27 times for 163 yards to lead the Falcons. Daniel Sell scored two TDs.
The offensive line played well for West.
Zeb Burns had a pick-six for the Falcons. Zeek Biggers, Zach Miller and Lavonte Jacobs were defensive standouts.
Caelan Stinson scored the North TD, and a female kicker, Ashley Lore, added the PAT.

New CCC school Oak Grove won its first football game, beating Pinecrest, 13-12, in jayvee action on Thursday.
Prep volleyball
South Rowan lost to Ledford, 25-13, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-10 in CCC play on Thursday.
Jenna Strickland had 14 digs, Janiya Downs had 13 digs and 6 kills; Michaela Hallman had 10 digs and seven assists, and Kira Rymer had five kills for the Raiders.

Ledford swept the jayvee match.Anna Rymer had six assists for South, and Jessi Rollins had four digs.

East Rowan lost to Concord, 25-11, 25-12, 24-26 and 25-15.
Caroline Johnson, Olivia Wright and Leah Wyrick had eight kills each.
Megan Beam had six kills, Lauren Shepherd had five aces, and Baleigh Hill had 28 digs.

In the jayvee game, Emma Collins had four kills for East in a 25-17 and 25-17 victory, and Mikayla Tucker, Ella Larson and Hannah Larson had three each.

West Davidson swept Salisbury, 25-7, 25-16 and 25-10 on Thursday in CCC action.
Prep tennis
Concord won against Salisbury, 8-1, on Thursday in non-conference play.
Bethanie Stauffer won, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles for the Hornets. Salisbury put up a good fight at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

Carson rolled against South Rowan, 9-0, in non-conference action on Thursday.

East Rowan rolled against North Rowan, 9-0.
Singles winners for East were Lauren Weisensel, Angel Scialdone, Mia Graham, Kristen Brady, Victoria Plyler and Syann Cooper.
Doubles winners were Scialdone/Weisensel, Graham/Brady and Plyler/Sage Fann.
Prep soccer
West Rowan and South Rowan battled to a 1-all tie on Thursday.
Jose Martinez scored for the Falcons. Cristyan Cabrera assisted.
Eber Tapia scored for South Rowan. Jordi Cortez assisted. Logan Carter controlled the midfield.
Intimidators
Jake Burger hit for the cycle through his first four at-bats as the Kannapolis Intimidators topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-5 in 11 innings, on Thursday night at Intimidators Stadium.
The last Intimidators player to hit for the cycle was Wild Bill Rice, also against Greensboro, on July 15, 2012.
Dale Mollenhauer hit the first cycle in the Intimidators era against Lake County on July 3, 2008.
