SALISBURY — Saving Grace Farm Executive Director Janna Griggs has been invited to a conference on equine therapy for veterans hosted by the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The High Impact Collaboration in Silver Bay, New York, will be held Saturday and Sunday. Its title is “Taking the Reins: Exploring Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies for Today’s Veterans.”

The foundation serves wounded, ill and injured veterans, service members and their families. Conference participants will discuss emerging issues and trends in veterans care.

Equine-assisted activities and therapies are now more widely used to improve the quality of life for veterans.

The Woodruff foundation has partnered with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, the premier credentialing organization for professionals in equine therapy.

Saving Grace Farm holds a premier accreditation with PATH International. Griggs is certified as a therapeutic riding instructor and an equine specialist in mental health and learning.

The organization has been serving veterans since 2013, providing therapeutic riding and other activities for veterans from the local area and in partnership with the W.G. “Bill” Hefner VA Medical Center. Because of the number of veterans served and the experience the organization has in this field, Griggs was one of about 60 people invited from across the country to participate in this weekend’s conference.
