Since the start of school already is happening or is just around the corner, it seems a good time to share this 1954 Salisbury Post photograph provided by Nancy Graham Corriher. Little Patsy Graham (Nancy’s sister) is showing her mother, Pauline Graham, and teacher Sarah Stephens some of the things she has been doing in the first grade at Wiley Elementary School. ‘A conference between the teacher, the parent and the child is the best way for a parent to find out just what her child is learning,’ the newspaper caption. ‘The narrative type of report cards now in use are an attempt to do the same thing more thoroughly than the old type of A,B,C, report card.’
