Letter: Why did Rep. Warren accept contribution?

As a senior citizen living on social security and on the downside of life I want to learn more about the government — city, state, and federal.

Politics has always been interesting to me. Might I be able to help others by being a candidate? So, I started to look at campaigns and party financing and what it takes to run a campaign.

While researching campaigns and contribution laws, I was struck by an article from December 8, 2016 from the Salisbury Post’s own Josh Bergeron. It mentioned how a limited liability company or LLC was usually prohibited from donating to a campaign, but that one particular company PITA Raleigh LLC, a firm that has, William Graham listed as its agent, had donated to the Rowan County GOP on November 2, 2016.

This was confirmed as a violation of state law. The GOP was forced to return the money. As the article states, PITA Raleigh LLC was dissolved. The actual date was Feb. 5, 2015.

This brings me to my point — Harry Warren received a contribution from PITA Raleigh LLC on June 26, 2017. How can a company that was dissolved over two years ago still contribute money to a political campaign? How can the same company with William Graham listed as the registered agent, still write checks.

Oh I forgot, this William Graham is also the man looking to be appointed as NC State Senator representing you.

Can you spell F-I-S-H-Y?

Editor’s note: Rep. Harry Warren, R-77, said his campaign returned the contribution shortly after discovering his campaign had accepted it on June 26. Warren said his campaign is not allowed to accept such a contribution. Warren’s campaign finance reports show the contribution from PITA Raleigh LLC was returned on June 30.
