Rowan weather: Update – Severe thunderstorm warning until 6 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Rowan and Iredell counties until 6 p.m.
Storms today and tonight will lead to a few days of cooler weather.
But some of those storms may be severe, with damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain. Large hail or a weak tornado can’t be ruled out. Flash flooding may occur if storms reform over the same areas.
Most of the showers and storms today will be after 5 p.m., with some patchy fog this morning. It will be mostly cloudy with a high of 88 and south southwest wind at 3-7 mph. The chance of rain is 60 percent, with accumulations of a tenth to quarter inch.
Tonight’s chance of rain is also 60 percent, with thunderstorms possible through the early morning hours. The low will be 70 with southwest wind at 5-7 mph. A quarter to half inch of rain is possible.
Saturday will have a high of 84 with mostly sunny skies. A 20 percent chance of showers moves in after 1 p.m. North wind will blow at 7-11 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy and a refreshing 63 degrees. North wind will blow at 6-9 mph.
Sunday will be mostly sunny and 81, with north northeast wind at 7-9 mph. Sunday night will be clear and cool, with a low of 61.
Monday’s high will be 84, with plenty of sun. The low will be 64.
Tuesday will be sunny and 85, with a low of 66.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 87, with a low of 67.
And Thursday should be mostly sunny and 88.
