Rowan weather: Change is coming

A cold front is headed this way, bringing an increased chance of rain tonight and Friday. Some of the thunderstorms Friday could reach severe levels, with damaging winds, frequent lightning and possible hail, along with heavy downpours.

Today we have a 20 percent chance of showers and storms after 3 p.m. It will be partly sunny and 88 with southwest wind at 5-8 mph.

Tonight the chance of showers and thunderstorms goes up to 40 percent, with patchy fog forming after 4 a.m. The low will be 72, with south wind at 3-5 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is likely, except higher in thunderstorms.

Friday has a 60 percent chance of storms and showers, mainly after 1 p.m. The day will start with patchy fog, then be mostly cloudy and 86 with southwest wind at 6-10 mph. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible.

Expect showers and thunderstorms Friday night, mostly before 3 a.m. The chance of rain is 70 percent. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 68 and west southwest wind at 6-8 mph.

Saturday should be a beautiful day, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 83. North northwest wind will blow at 8-10 mph. The low will be 64.

Sunday will be much the same, with another high of 83 and a low of 63.

Monday will be mostly sunny with a high of 83 and a low of 64.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 85 and a low of 66.

And Wednesday will see a high around 88 and mostly sunny skies.
