SALISBURY — Dennis Davidson, sports editor of the Salisbury Post, has received an award from the N.C. Press Association.

In the sports news category, Davidson won third place for his story “Season over for Salisbury, North,” about a  North Carolina High School Athletic Association ruling following a controversial basketball game.

Davidson was competing with other writers from papers with daily circulation of 12,500 to 35,000.

Results for most categories in the Press Association’s 2016 News, Editorial and Photojournalism Contest were announced in March. Some judges, however, had not yet completed working on their assignments.

The Salisbury Post won 18 awards in the annual competition.
