SALISBURY — A Salisbury teenager turned himself in six months after police linked him to the January robbery of a pizza deliveryman, reports said.

Xavier Marquis Haley, 17, of the 600 block of Bonanza Drive, was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. He has since been released under a $25,000 secured bond.

A Papa John’s delivery man was robbed at gunpoint in late January in the 200 block of East Council Street. Two thieves took two large pizzas and 16 chicken wings.

The delivery man told police officers that one of the men handed him a $50 bill that he believed was fake. The driver told the men he wouldn’t accept a counterfeit bill. Police have said that’s when one of the men pulled out a pistol and took the food.

The robbers wore the hoods of their sweatshirts over their heads.

The delivery man was not injured in the robbery.

Police investigators used surveillance video and also spoke with Haley before he turned himself in.
