Cabarrus County man charged with multiple sex offenses in Rowan County

SALISBURY — A Cabarrus County man has been charged with multiple sexual offenses after deputies say he had sexual encounters with a 14-year-old.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Ricky Brian Clark Jr., 33, sexually assaulted a 14-year-old at multiple locations in Rowan County and in Concord. The assaults took place between May 7 and May 21, according to a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified of the case by the Concord Police Department and teamed up with that agency during the investigation.

Clark was charged with four counts of statutory rape, three counts of statutory sex offense, five counts of indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

All the incidents that led to the charges occurred in Rowan County, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Clark has been placed in the Cabarrus County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled Tuesday.

Clark has no criminal record in North Carolina, authorities said.
