Blue Bears still fifth after second round in Florida

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Livingstone shot the same score on Saturday as it did in Friday’s first round an remained in fifth place at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship here at the Wanamaker Course.
The Blue Bears had a team score of 322 on both days, and their 644 trails leader West Alabama (616) by 28 strokes, in the Division II competition. Cal State-Dominguez Hills (621), last year’s winner, is in second place, followed by Lincoln (624), Virginia Union (636), and then Livingstone, Miles (667), Fayetteville State (671) and Virginia State (697).
Harrison is tied with West Alabama’s Brannon O’Pry, the first round leader. O’Pry shot an even-par 72 on Friday but a 77 in yesterday’s second round.
Samuel Reid of Virginia Union and Andrew Banuelos of Cal State-DH share the individual lead with 147s. Banuelos fired a 72 on Saturday. Harrison and O’Pry follow at 149.
Others scores for the Blue Bears on Saturday were: Stephen Washington (79), Lenorris Williams (83), Harry Standberry (84) and Telvin Walker (86).
Bethune-Cookman leads the Division I competition in the event, leading Incarnate Word by 18 strokes. Bethune-Cookman has a two-round score of 583.
The top three Division I individuals are all Bethune-Cookman players: Sam Sloman and Christian Hovstadius at 145 and Daniel Brennan at 146.
The third and final round will be played today.
