New Sarum Brewing Company hosts its one-year anniversary celebration, aka “AnniBEERsary,” this Saturday, April 29 from 1-11 p.m. The event is free of charge to the public, open to all ages, and will be held at 109 N. Lee St, in the parking lot behind the Salisbury Visitors Center.

Expect to see vendors and local artisans displaying arts and crafts, as well as local organizations. Food trucks and downtown restaurants will be on site vending meals and treats — Kabobs, Wild Turkey Farms, Mambo, Sweet Meadow Cafe, Hotdog Shack, and more.

New Sarum Brewing Company will also be announcing a list and schedule of special limited craft brews to be released and served throughout the day. One being their bourbon barrel aged Roundhouse Porter. Proceeds from the winner of the Homebrewer’s competition last month, Rick Godby’s Honey Basil Pale, will be donated to chosen charity, Prevent Child Abuse Rowan. Also, a portion of beer sales from the event, as well as proceeds from the raffle, will go to benefit Happy Roots charity. Happy Roots is a local 501c3 organization teaching children’s gardening, nutrition, and natural health and wellness.

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the all day free concert featuring local bands and Salisbury favorites — Big Break and Paper Wasps — as well as three regional touring acts.

Asheville-based The Get Right Band is a groove/rock/funk power trio. “Hip-shaking, earthquaking pure fun funk”, says The Alternate Root Magazine. Recently made on of Relix Magazine’s “On The Verge Artists, the band has also been named Homegrown Music Network’s 2015 “Best New Band of the Year”, and voted “Best Progressive Band” in Western NC by Mountain Xpress readers, among a slew of other accolades, while sharing the stage with national acts like Galactic, Victor Wooten Band, Jeff Sipe, Larry Keel, and many more. They released their third studio album, “Who’s In Charge?” in August of last year, which was recorded at the legendary Echo Mountain Studios (Widespread Panic, Zac Brown Band, Smashing Pumpkins), engineered, mixed and co-produced by Julian Dreyer (The Avett Brothers), and mastered by 6 time Grammy winner, Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Dr. John, Beck).

From the east coast, the “AnniBEERsary” brings the fiery and soulful powerhouse, Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey. With influences ranging from Pink Floyd to The Righteous Brothers, Rebekah found her musical niche lying between funk, melodic soul, and alternative folk rock. Growing into her soulful voice and style, she started to pull inspiration from passionate singer/songwriters like Lauryn Hill and Susan Tedeschi, shaping her original music she writes and performs today. Promoting her 3rd studio album “Crooked Lines”, Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey has big gigs coming up this year, including a mainstage performance at the reputable Floydfest, alongside acts such as St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Shovels & Rope, Thievery Corporation, and more.

Headliner, The Trongone Band, is set to close out the evening. For fans of bands like The Black Crowes, Sturgill Simpson, The Allman Brothers Band, and other greats, you’ll find their sound falls perfectly between Southern Rock N Soul, Funk, and Americana Jam. Formed as a family band, by brothers Andrew (lead vocals/guitar) and Johnny (drums), the band later enlisted much sought-after keyboardist Ben “Wolfe” White, and award winning bassist, Todd Herrington. Since, the band has had constant sell-out crowds in and around their hometown of Richmond, VA and other east coast markets. Their resume includes top notch music festivals such as, Virginia’s Roosterwalk, Riverbend Music Festival in Tennessee, Florida’s Slide Into Spring Festival, The Allman Brothers’ Peach Festival in Pennsylvania, and West Virginia’s Deep Mountain Roots Revival. The Trongone Band hits the road this spring, promoting their debut full length album “Keys To The House”.
