SALISBURY — A Rowan County woman was in jail Tuesday, accused of repeatedly stealing from her parents and then pawning their jewelry and other items.

Authorities said the woman does not live with her parents but likely took the items when she visited their Briggs Road home.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Brittany Dawn Himes, 27, with four counts of misdemeanor larceny, one count of felony larceny and five counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

She was in the Rowan County jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

The couple, Kathy and Timothy Himes, contacted Rowan authorities Friday to report that a number of jewelry items, silver coins, a guitar and a 9 mm handgun were taken from their home. The couple said the items were not taken all at once but over time from April 3 to April 15.

The Himeses suspected that the items were taken by their daughter Brittany, who they said had been at their home to take showers and eat meals. The two said Brittany Himes had been taking a few items at a time. Officials said there was no evidence of a break-in and the family kept the windows and doors locked at all times.

The Himeses found two of their stolen rings at Quick Cash Pawn shop, 2045 Statesville Blvd., and bought them back from the shop. Detectives searched and found other items had been sold over the past several months.

A red Fender electric guitar; a 14-karat herringbone necklace; a mother-and-child gold ring with birthstones; and a gold ring with a ruby were all pawned at Quick Cash Pawn. A gold ring with a black stone, gold ring with a cluster diamond, and a sterling silver bracelet were all sold to the pawnshop.

A gold bracelet and gold ring with a stone were sold to Reliable Pawn, 107 Mooresville Road.
