LANDIS — Corriher-Lipe Middle School will hold its inaugural Stinger Zinger 5K and Community Day on Saturday on its campus at 214 W. Rice St.

The day will include a yard sale and crafts sale beginning at 6:30 a.m., along with a car show and health fair beginning at 9 a.m.

Funds raised from the race and other events will benefit literacy initiatives at Corriher-Lipe, including books for the media center and classrooms, student incentives and teacher training. Organizers say they want to help the school become a leader in literacy education.

Sponsors include Novant Health, Fisher-Green Insurance, King Eye Center, attorney Richard D. Locklear, Frank A. Corriher & Sons Well Drilling Inc., and Merrell Family Dentistry.
