Education shoutouts

Hanford-Dole

Hanford-Dole Elementary has recognized the following students as March Good Citizens for the character trait of responsibility. Each student received a personalized certificate and had his or her picture on the Good Citizen board for the month. Hanford-Dole’s Communities in Schools coordinates the monthly program.

Prekindergarten: Kadence Cooper.

Kindergarten: Benjamin Manzano, David Coto Urbina, Bel Gaither, Giselle Sanchez and Aiden Corona Gonzalez.

First grade: Kayla Worth, Osmar Nava and Dexter Eaton.

Second grade: Shadavia Patterson, Anthony Napoles, Stephen Diaz, Elijah Young and Malik Miller.

Third grade: Ethan Ramirez Guzman, Za’Mya Parker, Kevin Ochoa Mejia, Izzy Stepp and Savannah Wilson.

Fourth grade: Chloe Bradley, Omarion Hicks and Shawnteria Duren.

Fifth grade: Alina Herrick, Trey Chaffin and Patricia Castro-Lopez.

Brevard College

Eastman School of Music

Alden Wright, a freshman majoring in applied music at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement for the fall 2016 semester.

Radford University

Marissa C. Yow of Mount Ulla has been named to the fall semester Dean’s List at Radford University.

Chicken Show

The Old English Bantam Club of North Carolina held its 36th Unifour All Breed Show on March 4 at the Rowan County Fair Grounds.
Local junior winners are Alexis Crisco, of Kannapolis, and Tyler Wilhelm, of Salisbury.
