SALISBURY — Michael Briggs will speak at a History Club program on the Rowan Longrifle School at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rowan Museum, 202 N. Main St.

The program is free.

“I have invited a number of people I know who own Rowan school longrifles to attend and bring their rifles for display,” said Briggs, the author of a book on the Rowan school. “I expect this to be the largest gathering of Rowan school rifles in one location that has ever occurred.”

The Walkertown Area Historical Society also has asked Briggs to lead an April 18 program on all nine N.C. longrifle schools and powder horns at the Walkertown Public Library, 2969 Main St.

That 6:30 p.m. program also is free and open to the public.

Briggs, a noted expert and collector of longrifles and powder horns, is president and chief executive officer of Cell Coverage Inc. of Greensboro.
