Rowan weather: Freeze warning for tonight

Published 8:04 am Friday, March 3, 2017

It will be another windy, cool day, with a freeze warning in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Saturday.

All the growth spurred by the recent warm weather could be nipped in the bud.

Today will be sunny and 52, with west northwest wind at 11-16 mph and gusts up to 24 mph. With the winds and very low humidity, we are under an increased fire danger from noon to 7 p.m., as dry conditions make the chance of wildfires higher.

Calming winds tonight will mean the freeze will be heavy, with a low of 25.

Saturday’s high will be 54 with more sunny skies and light and variable winds. But again, the low will be below freezing, 30 degrees, leading to more frost and freeze problems.

We warm to 60 degrees Sunday, with more sunshine and south winds around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Expect patchy frost Sunday night, with a low of 38.

The frost will last into Monday morning, when it will become partly sunny and reach a high of 67.

A 30 percent chance of rain moves in Monday night, with a low of 49.

Tuesday has a 50 percent chance of rain before 8 a.m., then showers. It will be mostly cloudy and 68. The same chance of rain lingers Tuesday night, with a low of 48.

Wednesday will have a 40 percent chance of rain, but be mostly sunny, with a high of 67. The low will be 39.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 63.
