Rowan weather: Warmer today, slight chance of rain

Today will be warmer and bring a 20 percent chance of showers this afternoon. Under partly cloudy skies, we can expect a high of 73. South southwest wind will pick up this afternoon to 5-8 mph.

The chance of rain increases to 30 percent tonight with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 59. Winds from the south southwest will blow at 6-11 mph.

It appears March will come in like a lion, with a stormy first day. Wednesday includes a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. It will be mostly cloudy and quite warm, with a high of 79. Southwest wind will blow at 11-20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. Some storms could become severe, with damaging winds and frequent lightning.

The showers and storms continue through the night, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. The low will be 46. Southwest wind at 8-16 mph will become northwest after midnight, and could gust up to 28 mph. A tenth to a quarter inch of rain is possible, except higher in thunderstorms.

Thursday will be sunny and cooler, with a high near 61 and northwest wind at 8-10 mph. The low will be wintry, 34 degrees.

Friday will be sunny and 56, and the low will drop below freezing to 29 degrees.

Saturday will be sunny and 56 again, with a low of 36.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and 66, with a low of 45.

And Monday will start a new week with a high of 70 and mostly sunny skies.
